Cheatham County Democratic Party Regular Monthly Meeting December 3, 2019 Pinnacle Bank, Ashland City, TN (2nd Floor)
MINUTES
The meeting was preceded by a social time to welcome guests, discuss current events, etc. as required by a motion at a previous meeting.
Call to Order and Pledge of Allegiance: Chair L. Newcomb called the meeting to order at 6:15 p.m., followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.
Attendance: A quorum was present.
Present: Lynn Newcomb (P), Jane Crisp (VP), Martha Wettemann (S), Roger Marriott (T), Rebecca Brooks, Jim Brooks, Aric Storck, Nicole DeBaun-Phillips, Karen Stell, Randy Fiedler, Kathryn Mitchem, Gerald Dooley, Michael Lottman.
Absent and excused: John Patrick (VP), Rick Johnson Absent: Tony Gross, Crissy Scott, Elena Roser
Guests: Linda McFadyen-Ketchem, Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America; Steve McFadyenKetchem.

A motion was made by G. Dooley/K. Stell to approve the agenda and the minutes of the last meeting. Motion carried.
Committee Report, Elections Committee: M. Wettemann reported that a Virtual Phone Bank was set up for the Ashland City elections and provided information on how it could be accessed. After discussion about the county elections to be held in 2020, M. Lottman volunteered to secure a list of the positions to be elected. Recruitment is ongoing. N. Debaun-Phillips volunteered to do research on candidate voting records (example: Rep. Littleton: weaker gun laws, block grant for health care, voting suppression, etc). With a voter registration deadline for the primary of February 3, M. Wettemann will help make a plan for voter registration activity in January.
Speaker: Ms. McFadyen-Ketchem gave a very informative report relating to gun violence prevention in the U.S. and Tennessee (see attached).
Treasurer’s Report: Mr. Marriott reported that $1,798.09 is our current balance. The collection jar was passed.

Chair’s Report: L. Newcomb reported that the Ashland City parade was to be on December 7 at 6 p.m. K. Stell will drive her truck and decorations have been secured. Line up is 5 p.m. in Riverfront Park. Volunteers are needed to ride on the truck. President Newcomb also provided a list of upcoming important dates for CCDP (on the agenda).
Committee Report, Events Committee: R. Fiedler reported that the Pet Food collection was underway, with several collection boxes out. N. DeBaun-Phillips volunteered to check on the Pleasant View Post Office and Liquor Store as possible locations.
R. Fiedler/M. Wettemann moved that the meeting be adjourned. Motion carried. The meeting adjourned approximately 8:15 p.m.
