Committee Reports

Events Committee:  Summerfest will be June 7-11. R. Fiedler said CCDP agreed to 2 side-by-side booths and K. Stell needed to pay for these. Electricity will be provided. L. Newcomb will provide a tent. He will send an email to CCDP members to ask for volunteers to staff the booths. K. Rawn and K. James will volunteer. A motion was made by M. Wettemann/R. Marriott that the next CCDP executive committee meeting be on June 14 at 6 p.m. The motion carried.  A location will be sought for the meeting.

Pegram will have their 4th of July celebration on July 4.  K. Stell can provide a truck for our CCDP float. R. Fiedler will investigate the prices of flags and labels for the flags and bring that information to the CCDP executive committee which can authorize that size of a purchase.

A motion was made by E. Roser/L. Seifert to have our monthly meeting at the Pegram July 4th event after the float. The motion carried.

  1. Wettemann discussed the idea of a CCDP Barbecue to allow our candidates to speak (including the Democratic candidates for governor, U.S. House, and TN House and our local candidates) and provide an informal opportunity for Democrats especially those new to the community to meet in this critical election year. She made a motion, seconded by E. Roser, to have a Democratic barbecue at 714 Darrow Drive on May 22, with the party paying $300 for protein. The motion carried.

Advocacy Committee:  M. Wettemann conducted voter registration training and provided handouts with information on laws and best practices from the April TNDP Summit. It was discussed to have a QR code on the flag labels for registering to vote.  She thanked CCDP members for their advocacy on education issues. She will compile a list of harmful legislation passed this year in Tennessee and provide it to the committee.

Elections Committee: E. Roser, candidate for CC School Board, District 5, needs sign locations in her district (includes part of Ashland City and Pegram). She has had an announcement in the Exchange and will do direct mail and door-to-door campaigning. K. James will roll out her materials in June. L. Walker and J. Patrick are also candidates with their elections in August.

Social/Print Media Committee: No report.

New Business: L. Newcomb reported that the Tennessee Democratic County Chairs Association (TDCCA) is having a fundraiser selling Democratic pins that have to be ordered by May 20. E. Roser/B. Ervin moved that CCDP spend $550.00 and purchase 100 pins. The motion carried. L. Newcomb will provide the ordering information to K. Stell.

Announcements: There will be a memorial service for Jane Crisp’s husband Doug, who passed away from Covid-19, on May 15 at 2 p.m. at Montgomery Bell Park. All are invited.
